Salsa, Productivity, and Making Life More Fun…

I do this thing, don’t I?

One day, I’m cracking jokes. The next, I’m dragging you into a heavy, reflective, not-necessarily-happy place. Whoops.

Occasionally, that part of my brain—the one that spent years studying the messy, complicated parts of being human—has something to say.

And I will not be silencing it.

Anyway. Today’s lighter.

SALSA!

2 days ago, I walked into my 2nd salsa class after a 2-week break (courtesy of my horrible, horrible cough).

I was nervous. Everyone else had been practising. I had not. And since we dance with partners, I was convinced I’d walk in, and the seasoned dancers would look at me like, Oh no. Not her. Not the girl who sucks.

I had to keep telling myself: Yosi, you didn’t sign up for salsa to relive the awkward horrors of high school P.E. You signed up to have fun.

So I dragged myself there. And you know what?

I did not immediately burst into flames.

Sure, I fumbled. Sure, I probably stepped on some toes. But here’s what I noticed:

The times I had the most fun were when I actually knew what I was doing… when I was in sync with my partner.

And I suspect it’s because, in those moments, I wasn’t thinking about salsa—I was just doing it. Enjoying it. Going with the flow and letting my endorphins do their thing.

Meanwhile, the times when I was out of sync, I was too busy panicking to have fun.

Because suddenly, I was a mathematician calculating foot placement, a mind-reader trying to predict my partner’s next move, and a full-time disaster manager preventing accidental toe injuries.

And that’s when I had one of those aha moments…

Salsa is actually really fun when you’re not just trying to survive it.

So, obviously, I want to get better.

Not because anyone’s grading me, but because the better I get, the more fun I’ll have.

Which means… I should actually be practising between classes.

And yes, I’m as surprised as you are.

But come to think of it… this is how productivity works, too.

The skills that make you more productive—building good habits, staying consistent, not relying on just adrenaline to meet deadlines—all sound like chores.

And if you’re doing them just for the sake of doing them, they are just extra boring work.

So at some point, you have to ask yourself:

Why am I even doing this?

Because when you actually want to enjoy your life—when you want to spend your time on things that aren’t stress-induced fire drills—doesn’t it make sense to get better at the skills that make that possible?

The same way I practise salsa steps so I can have more fun dancing, you can practise your productivity skills so you can have more fun running your business (and, you know, your life).

That’s why I created The Productivity Hotline.

Think of it like a salsa class.

Except instead of a dance studio, it’s your inbox.

Instead of a monthly membership… you’re dropping in an Ayapy Coin.

And instead of an instructor yelling “FIVE-SIX-SEVEN-EIGHT” while you pray for muscle memory to kick in, you get me—helping you figure out exactly what’s tripping you up, so you can smooth out your steps and have more fun in your business and life.

There’s more where that came from!

See, I’ve been writing daily productivity emails for online business owners since November 2024.

And what you just read is barely a scratch on the surface.

The real gems… The fun, insightful, and occasionally absurd behind-the-scenes stories… My best offers… The kind of stuff that makes you go:

“Wait… did that REALLY happen?”

I don’t blast those out to the whole internet.

(Some things… should be kept private.)

But if you want to snoop around… if you want to see what really happens in AYAPYLand…

There’s a door.

And it’s open.

For now.
